Egypt’s trade deficit decreases by 5.1% in June

Egypt Daily News – CAMPAS revealed a decrease in the trade deficit value for Egypt to approximately $2.87 billion in June 2024, compared to $3.02 billion for the same month last year, representing a decrease of 5.1%.

The monthly bulletin of foreign trade data indicated a decrease in the value of exports by 1.6%, reaching $3.13 billion in June 2024 compared to $3.18 billion for the same month of the previous year.

This decline is attributed to a decrease in the value of exports of certain goods, the most significant of which are:
(With a percentage of 42.9% for fertilizers, 64.6% for crude oil, 23.7% for iron bars, rods, angles, and wires, and 25.4% for fresh onions.)

The value of exports for certain goods increased in June 2024 compared to the same month of the previous year, with the most notable being (petroleum products by 56.3%, ready-made clothing by 5.5%, fresh fruits by 24.3%, and various food preparations and pastes by 12.4%).

The value of imports decreased by 3.3%, reaching $6.0 billion in June 2024 compared to $6.21 billion in the same month of the previous year.

This decline is attributed to the decrease in the value of imports of certain goods, most notably: wheat by 21.5%, pharmaceuticals and medicinal preparations by 11.9%, primary forms of plastics by 4.2%, and corn by 28.6%.

While the value of imports for certain goods increased in June 2024 compared to the same month of the previous year, the most notable among them are: (petroleum products by 49.8%, raw materials of iron or steel by 33.6%, organic and inorganic chemical materials by 5.8%, and natural gas by 39.6%).
