Egypt Daily News – The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, confirmed today, Wednesday, in statements to the American network CNN, that “there is no evidence of a systematic effort to develop a nuclear weapon in Iran.” Grossi stressed the need not to target nuclear facilities, as this could lead to serious consequences for nuclear safety and regional and international security.
The International Atomic Energy Agency had confirmed that the Natanz nuclear facility sustained direct damage in underground enrichment halls as a result of recent Israeli strikes, noting that there were no significant changes at the Isfahan and Fordow nuclear facilities.
Iranian authorities also informed the Agency that there were no elevated radiation levels outside the targeted sites, despite recording contamination only inside the Natanz site, and confirmed that there was no severe damage to the Fordow facility, although it had sustained limited damage.
The Agency emphasized that armed attacks on nuclear facilities constitute a violation of international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter. It called on all parties to exercise restraint to avoid further escalation, warning that any military action that undermines the safety of nuclear facilities could lead to grave consequences affecting the Iranian people, the region, and the world.
