Egypt Daily News – On Saturday, Hezbollah issued a statement denying any involvement in the rocket attacks launched towards northern Israel. This comes amid significant Israeli escalation in southern Lebanon following the launch of five rockets towards Israel, none of which caused notable damage.
The statement emphasized that Hezbollah has no connection to the rocket fire, reaffirming its commitment to the ceasefire agreement and its support for the Lebanese state in addressing the escalation.
Ali Fayyad, a Lebanese parliament member from Hezbollah, accused Israel of intensifying its aggression against Lebanese civilians. He pointed out that the latest attack targeted the town center of Toul in the Marjayoun district, resulting in casualties among residents.
Fayyad further stated that Israel is using false claims and baseless pretexts to justify its assaults, while relying on U.S. support and exploiting Lebanon’s strict adherence to UN Resolution 1701. He urged the Lebanese government to take direct responsibility for addressing Israeli violations and to intensify diplomatic efforts in response to the ongoing aggression.
Over 1,500 Israeli Violations of the Ceasefire Agreement
Meanwhile, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri called on the army and the ceasefire monitoring committee to urgently investigate the morning’s incidents in southern Lebanon. Berri stressed that Israel is the primary beneficiary of escalating tensions in Lebanon and the region, highlighting that Israel has violated Resolution 1701 more than 1,500 times, while Lebanon and its resistance have fully adhered to the agreement.
At the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the military to strike what he described as “dozens of terrorist targets” in Lebanon. Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on several areas, including the heights of Iqlim Al-Tuffah, Mount Al-Rihane, and the town of Toulin, where a house was destroyed, resulting in casualties, according to local media reports.
