Egypt Daily News – Houthi media outlets in Yemen reported that the “group targeted” by U.S. President Donald Trump, which he described as “Houthi militants” on his social media account, was actually a gathering of Yemeni tribesmen celebrating Eid al-Fitr.
Many social media users circulated a photo of the individuals who were targeted, confirming that they were unarmed civilians. Several accounts criticized President Trump, saying, “This is how the United States boasts about bombing civilians.”
A Houthi account wrote, “It was a tribal gathering with no connection to your ships. You failed to achieve any military objective, so you bombed civilians instead.”
President Donald Trump shared a video showing the moment of the airstrike, claiming it was targeting a gathering of the Houthi group in Yemen. He commented, “These Houthis gathered to receive instructions for an attack, sorry, there won’t be any attack from these Houthis.”
On social media, Trump wrote, “They will not sink our ships again.”
The United States, along with Israel and other countries, has been conducting airstrikes on Yemen, particularly in the capital, Sana’a, targeting the group under the pretext of disrupting international shipping in the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
The Yemeni group claims it targets Israeli and U.S. vessels in the Red Sea due to the ongoing war on Gaza.
