Lebanon exploding pagers

Egypt Daily News – On Tuesday, thousands of pagers used by Hezbollah members exploded in Lebanon, resulting in the deaths of eleven individuals and injuries to approximately 2,750 others.

A Lebanese security source disclosed that the communication devices, specifically pagers, were preloaded with explosives, with the explosive device weighing around 20 grams.

The pagers reportedly were imported five months prior to the explosion, and the security services are currently investigating various hypotheses regarding the method of activation of the explosive charges.

There are claims from Lebanese media suggesting that Israeli forces may have infiltrated the communication devices and caused the detonation.

A source told Al Jazeera that the explosion was likely the result of a breach through wireless technology. This operation appears to have been meticulously planned, as noted by a former head of Israeli military intelligence, indicating that the perpetrators aimed to send a specific message through this incident.

The explosions affected several regions, including southern suburbs of Beirut, the Bekaa Valley, and southern Lebanon, showing the extensive reach of this attack.

The pagers are utilized by Hezbollah for secure internal communication, making this incident particularly significant in the context of security and intelligence operations in the region.
