Egypt Daily News – Tel Aviv and several other Israeli cities came under heavy missile fire Friday evening, as Iran launched a large-scale retaliatory attack involving dozens of ballistic missiles. The attack marks a significant escalation in tensions between the two countries.
According to Israeli Channel 13, a large fire broke out near the headquarters of the Israeli Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv. Correspondents confirmed that Iranian missiles struck the vicinity of the Defense Ministry building, with loud explosions heard across Jerusalem.
Israel Hayom reported missile impacts in at least seven different locations across Tel Aviv. Meanwhile, Israeli Army Radio stated that efforts are ongoing to intercept nearly 100 missiles. Channel 11 reported that at least 50 Iranian missiles had been intercepted as of Friday evening.
The Palestinian news agency Shehab noted loud explosions in multiple areas across the occupied territories, with air raid sirens blaring throughout Israel. The Israeli military’s official account on platform X (formerly Twitter) declared, “All of Israel is under fire as Iran launches missiles.”
The Israeli Home Front Command confirmed the activation of air raid sirens in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and several other cities, while the second wave of Iranian missile attacks prompted Israel to raise its alert level to the highest possible state.
A spokesperson for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), Avichay Adraee, confirmed missile launches from Iran and noted that the country’s air defense systems are actively working to intercept the incoming threats.
Initial reports indicate that between five and seven Iranian missiles hit the Tel Aviv area during the first wave of the attack. According to Eli Bin, director of the Magen David Adom emergency services, at least seven people were injured by shrapnel, with wounds ranging from mild to moderate.
In a subsequent statement, the IDF confirmed that a second wave of ballistic missiles had been launched from Iran, triggering sirens across northern and southern parts of Israel.
An unnamed senior Iranian official said, “There will be no safe place in Israel,” highlighting the seriousness and potential scale of Iran’s ongoing retaliation.
