Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced Monday that it had targeted the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu along with the headquarters of the Israeli Air Force in a new wave of missile strikes, marking a sharp escalation in the ongoing confrontation between Iran and Israel.

In a statement carried by Iran’s Fars news agency, the Revolutionary Guard said the attack was carried out using Kheibar-class missiles. The announcement came as explosions were heard across Jerusalem after the Israeli military reported detecting fresh launches from Iranian territory.

The Israeli army said its air defenses were actively working to intercept incoming threats. “A short while ago, the Israeli military detected missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel,” the military said, urging civilians to follow safety instructions.

Air raid sirens sounded in Jerusalem earlier Monday, according to reports from the city, while additional explosions were recorded in the Tel Aviv area in central Israel as the missile exchanges continued.

The escalation comes as joint U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran entered their third consecutive day. The Israeli military released images it said showed ongoing air force operations targeting missile launch platforms at multiple locations inside Iran.

Iranian authorities reported heavy casualties from the strikes. The Iranian Red Crescent said attacks had affected 131 cities across the country and that 555 people had been killed since the start of the war.

In Israel, the previous day’s Iranian missile attacks caused significant casualties. Officials said nine people were killed and 11 others remained missing in central Israel after a building collapsed onto a shelter following a direct missile hit. Seven additional people were wounded in a separate strike targeting the Jerusalem area later the same evening.

The latest exchanges underscore the rapidly widening scope of the conflict, raising fears of a prolonged and potentially broader regional war.
