Egypt Daily News – On Wednesday, General Herzi Halevi, Israel’s Chief of Staff, reaffirmed that Israeli airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon would persist to dismantle the group’s infrastructure and prepare for a possible ground operation.

Addressing soldiers stationed at the Lebanese border, Halevi emphasized the ongoing aerial assaults, stating, “We will not stop,” and highlighted the need to weaken Hezbollah substantially before any ground incursion.

The Israeli army has moved to bolster its forces by calling up two additional reserve brigades in response to the escalating conflict, which has seen a significant uptick in airstrikes against Hezbollah across various locations in Lebanon.

This strategy is aimed at both safeguarding Israeli citizens and facilitating the return of residents displaced from northern Israel. Additionally, Major General Ori Gordin, commander of the Northern Command, mentioned that Israel is entering a “new phase” in its campaign against Hezbollah, indicating readiness for more dynamic military actions.

This phase reportedly began with a concerted strike aimed at crippling Hezbollah’s operational capabilities, including their leadership and offensive strengths. Meanwhile, the situation remains tense, with the Israeli air force launching heavy bombardments that reportedly targeted over 280 Hezbollah sites in a single day.

Hezbollah responded by firing rockets towards Israel, marking one of the most intense exchanges of fire seen in the last year. The conflict continues to escalate as both sides engage in reciprocal strikes amidst growing military preparations.
