Egypt Daily News – Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz told his American counterpart, Lloyd Austin, on Wednesday that there is “a chance now” to reach an agreement to release the remaining hostages who were detained in October 2023.
“There is currently an opportunity to reach a new agreement,” Katz told Austin during a phone call.
He added, according to a statement issued by his office: “We hope for the release of all hostages, including American citizens.”
Hamas delegation, headed by Khalil al-Hayya, handed the head of Egyptian intelligence, Major General Hassan Rashad, a preliminary list of names of Israeli hostages, including 5 with American citizenship, whom Hamas will release once an agreement is reached. It was reported that they are 18 elderly Israeli hostages as well.
