Israeli airstrikes on Beirut

Egypt Daily News – Recent Israeli airstrikes have been targeting southern suburbs of Beirut, particularly a stronghold of the Hezbollah.

According to reports from Lebanese state media, these airstrikes are among the heaviest since the bombing campaign began on September 23. Eyewitnesses have noted that at least 11 strikes occurred in quick succession, generating powerful explosions that resonated throughout the area.

Specific targets included senior Hezbollah leader Hashem Safie El Din, reportedly hidden in a deep underground location. This airstrike follows the earlier assassination of Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, just over a week ago, which increased tensions and the organization’s leadership dynamics.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health has reported a significant toll from these military actions, stating that 37 people have been killed and 151 injured in the last 24 hours due to the Israeli strikes. The Israeli military has confirmed that they targeted multiple Hezbollah positions, including a warehouse near Beirut International Airport and other sites in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah also reported that their forces managed to repel an infiltration attempt by Israeli troops, causing 17 dead among the Israeli ranks and the destruction of a Merkava tank.

The Israeli military acknowledged that it has sustained losses, with an increase in soldier fatalities during ongoing ground operations in southern Lebanon.

This ongoing conflict reflects a deeply entrenched cycle of violence in the region, with both sides suffering casualties and escalating military actions leading to rising tensions and instability.
