Egypt Daily News – The Israeli army has built nine permanent military sites inside the Syrian territories as part of the “Al -Bashhan Arrow” operation launched by the army about two months ago in Syrian soil.
The military sites in an area extending from the Syrian Sheikh to the border triangle in the south of the Golan were concentrated, in a move after the Israeli Air Force destroyed hundreds of Syrian military targets, including planes, naval fleet, air defense systems and missiles, which caused Syria to be deprived of about 80% of Its military capabilities.
According to Israeli military sources, the new sites were built in proportion to the long -term survival of the Israeli forces in the region, where they were equipped with everything necessary to counter the harsh climatic conditions, especially during the winter season. These sources confirmed that the Israeli army is ready to stay in the area as long as this is necessary, without specifying a specific period of time.
During a visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the Syrian Sheikh Mountain a month and a half ago, he indicated that the Israeli military presence in the region will continue at least until the end of 2025.
He added that this step comes within the framework of the strategy of “anticipation and movement before it is too late”, especially in light of the sudden collapse of the Assad regime and the lack of clarity of the “nature of the enemy” that Israel faces in the region.
The nine military sites were distributed between two main areas: two in Jabal Al -Sheikh Al -Suri, and seven in the occupied Syrian Golan.
Reports indicate that these sites were designed to serve as control points and insurance for the buffer zone between Syria and the Golan Heights, which has become a security tape that protects the northeastern region of Israel.
In addition to the military tasks, the Israeli forces are building ties with the residents of neighboring Syrian villages, while making sure to reduce their direct contact with them.
The daily tasks of the Israeli forces include night inspections and raids in the locations that were under the control of the Syrian army, in addition to collecting weapons from the surrounding villages. Some residents have provided weapons voluntarily, while the army still collects less weapons after two months have passed since the start of operations.
The Israeli army is trying to avoid being in the Syrian villages as much as possible, to avoid stirring negative feelings similar to those in the West Bank. Efforts are also made to reduce the inconvenience of the local population, and allow them to practice their daily lives naturally, without imposing a curfew or restrictions on their movement.
Despite the “peaceful messages” that the leader of Syria sends, Ahmed Al -Shara, to Western countries, the Israeli forces still maintain a high level of preparation to face any possible threats. This anxiety comes in the presence of elements that were part of ISIS in the region, which increases the possibility of hostile attacks.
While there are no concrete intelligence about imminent attacks, the Israeli army confirms that it will continue to stay in the buffer zone until a better understanding of the nature of the enemy is facing, while maintaining a state of maximum alert.
