Egypt and Qatar issued a joint statement affirming their continued efforts to mediate an end to the war in Gaza, stressing that attempts to sow division among brothers will not succeed.
The statement comes at a sensitive time, as international parties continue working toward a permanent ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
Earlier, Egypt, Qatar, and the United States announced that the concerned parties had reached an agreement on a ceasefire. The agreement includes three phases: an initial ceasefire, followed by the repositioning of Israeli forces, an exchange of prisoners and detainees, and finally, the reconstruction of Gaza and the facilitation of humanitarian aid.
The joint statement emphasized the need to implement all phases of the agreement fully and reiterated that any attempts to incite discord among Arab brothers would not succeed.
Egypt and Qatar also affirmed the importance of ongoing coordination between them, stressing that any efforts to liquidate the Palestinian cause at the expense of the Palestinian people or regional countries — including forced displacement — are completely unacceptable.
They underscored the urgent need to stop the bloodshed in Gaza and once again made clear that efforts to create division among the Arab states would fail.
