Madbouly calls for providing the necessary support to Egypt in light of the burdens it is shouldering

Egypt Daily News – Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly met today, Tuesday, with Amy Pope, Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), on the sidelines of his participation on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in the United Nations Fourth Conference on Financing for Development, hosted in Seville, Spain. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Osama Abdel Khalek, Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and Ambassador Ihab Badawi, Egypt’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the reception by the IOM Director General and praised the ongoing cooperation and coordination between Egypt and the organization.

Dr. Madbouly emphasized Egypt’s consistent position in all its engagements on the importance of achieving security and stability in the region, in light of the burdens people face due to instability and the resulting waves of migration and displacement.

He also highlighted Egypt’s commitment to providing various services to guests residing in the country, a practice that has been commended by international organizations.

The IOM Director General praised the cooperation between Egypt and the organization, affirmed the IOM’s support for Egypt, and stressed the importance of continuing collaboration between both sides.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister called on the international community to provide the necessary support to Egypt in view of the burdens it is shouldering, especially considering the current economic challenges resulting from regional and international crises.

In response to Amy Pope’s inquiry, Dr. Madbouly spoke about Egypt’s efforts, in cooperation with European countries, to organize legal migration and seasonal labor, given Egypt’s supply of skilled labor across various fields.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his readiness to consider any ideas for cooperation with the International Organization for Migration.
