Egypt Daily News – The recent meeting between Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, head of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council, and Major General Abbas Kamel, head of Egyptian General Intelligence, highlights the ongoing collaboration between Sudan and Egypt amid the challenges posed by ongoing conflict in Sudan.

Al-Burhan expressed appreciation for Egypt’s support, recognizing the historical ties between the two nations and emphasizing the importance of Egypt’s role in humanitarian and security matters.

Kamel reiterated Egypt’s commitment to ensuring Sudan’s stability and voiced a strong desire to bring an end to the conflict affecting the Sudanese people. The Egyptian government is keen on facilitating a resolution that eases the suffering of civilians in Sudan.

Additionally, the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council announced the dispatch of a delegation to Cairo for consultations with an American team regarding the Jeddah Declaration—an initiative aimed at fostering peace and resolving the ongoing conflict.

This meeting underscores Sudan’s intent to work towards a peaceful resolution based on the principles outlined in the Jeddah Declaration, emphasizing genuine peace, the return of displaced citizens, and the restoration of public services.

The consultations are presented as distinct from ongoing Geneva meetings, focusing instead on concrete steps for implementing peace initiatives and laying the groundwork for future negotiations concerning the situation of the Rapid Support Forces and broader peace arrangements.

This indicates a proactive approach by Sudan’s leadership in seeking support from regional partners and international mediators to navigate the complex landscape of the conflict.
