Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered a written message from President El-Sisi to the President of Tanzania

Egypt Daily News – Under the directives of President Sisi, Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, visited the United Republic of Tanzania, where he met with President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Thursday.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister conveyed the greetings and appreciation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the President of Tanzania and expressed his anticipation of her visit to Egypt to further elevate the distinguished fraternal relations between the two countries. He also delivered a written message from President El-Sisi, focusing on ways to enhance and deepen bilateral cooperation and consultation between the two friendly nations across various sectors.

President Samia Hassan asked the Minister to convey her greetings and respect to President El-Sisi, emphasizing the strong bonds of brotherhood and friendship that unite them, as well as the deep ties between the two nations and their peoples.

During the meeting, Minister Abdel Aty highlighted the historical relations between Egypt and Tanzania and expressed the desire to strengthen them further in various fields. He praised the significant progress made in this regard, especially following multiple presidential meetings, the latest of which took place in November 2024 in Rio de Janeiro on the sidelines of the G20 summit.

He also pointed out the growing interest of Egyptian businessmen and investors in the Tanzanian market, emphasizing the importance of increasing trade exchange and encouraging Egyptian investments in Tanzania. He stressed the role of Egyptian companies in executing major infrastructure and national projects in Tanzania.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also noted that his visit was accompanied by a high-level delegation of Egyptian companies specializing in infrastructure, construction, pharmaceuticals, logistics, agriculture, industry, food security, energy, and fisheries. He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to fostering trade relations with Tanzania and leveraging the Egyptian Export and Investment Insurance Agency to facilitate this process.

The discussions also covered the latest developments regarding the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project, which is being executed by an Egyptian consortium comprising Arab Contractors and El Sewedy Electric. The project has now reached a completion rate of 99.9%. President Samia Hassan praised this remarkable achievement, emphasizing that it was accomplished through African cooperation with Egypt as a key partner.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdel Aty further addressed issues of mutual interest, particularly water security, reiterating Egypt’s support for sustainable development in the Nile Basin based on the principle of mutual benefits and avoiding harm to any party. He highlighted the launch of a new investment mechanism for water and development projects in the southern Nile Basin countries, which Egypt is actively supporting by mobilizing funding from international donors.

The meeting also touched on regional crises in Africa and the Middle East, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to address them.
