Egypt Daily News – Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, confirmed that health insurance will cover 100% of citizens by 2030.
He emphasized that the main strategic goal in building the Egyptian person and enhancing its well-being is the availability of high -quality health services, as the percentage of coverage of health insurance services for the population has reached 78% so far at a total annual cost 10 Billion pounds.
This came during the opening session of the forum under the patronage and presence of Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, which is held under the slogan “comprehensive and sustainable health coverage for all: the pioneering role of the private sector to achieve comprehensive and sustainable health care.”
The minister pointed out that the number of registered in the system in the governorates in which the work was applied, reached 5,431 million beneficiaries, with a total of 49 million and 686 thousand medical services, in addition to 110 thousand family medicine services, and 620 thousand surgical operations, with an average rate 90%, through 247 registered facilities and holding national accreditation standards, 2 international hospitals, and the first green hospitals with international recognition, at a cost of 51.2 billion pounds.
The Minister revealed the work plans for the second stage of the comprehensive health insurance system (Damietta, Matrouh, Kafr El -Sheikh, North Sinai, Minya), which is targeted that 12.8 million citizens will be used, at a cost of 120 billion pounds.
He continued: The governorates of the third stage for comprehensive health insurance, will include the (Beheira, the Red Sea, Alexandria, Sohag, Assiut, and the New Valley), while the fourth stage includes (Fayoum, Beni Suef, Western, Menoufia, Qena, Dakahlia). To implement the new system includes (Eastern, Giza, Qaliubiya, Cairo), according to the priorities and needs.
The forum is attended by a number of senior officials, including Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj Al -Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, and Dr. Hala Al -Saeed, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Economic Affairs, along with Dr. Ahmed Al -Sobky, Chairman of the General Authority for Health Care and the General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project.
