The visit underscored the Egyptian state’s support, led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in standing by the families of national heroes.

Badawi entered the family’s home, spoke warmly with the relatives, and personally offered his condolences. Ahmed, the nephew of the late martyr, described the minister’s visit as friendly and familial, saying: “He spoke with grace and kindness it felt like our father was sitting among us.”

Ahmed continued, stating that the minister pledged support for the family in whatever they might need. He also revealed that Badawi announced the appointment of the martyr’s son and nephew to positions within the Ministry of Petroleum, a gesture highlighting the state’s commitment to the family.

“My uncle was deeply patriotic and a strong supporter of President El-Sisi,” Ahmed said. “Even during his hospital stay, we played patriotic songs for him because he loved them so much.”

A Heroic Sacrifice

The family of Khaled Shoukry is continuing to receive condolences after his heroic act, driving a burning fuel truck away from a crowded fuel station in the city of 10th of Ramadan, thereby averting a major catastrophe.

Shoukry’s actions drew significant attention and appreciation from top Egyptian officials, including President El-Sisi, who followed developments closely and ordered comprehensive support for the martyr’s family, especially to ensure the future of his four children.

Major General Tarek Marzouk, the Governor of Dakahlia, along with his deputy Dr. Ahmed El-Adl, and a church delegation also attended the funeral to pay their respects. The church’s delegation was led by Father Antonios William from the Virgin Mary Church in Dikirnis, alongside other local public figures.

Public Mourning and National Pride

A large funeral tent was set up on a one-acre plot in the martyr’s hometown, where thousands gathered to mourn. The body was brought to the village shortly after midnight, and the burial took place in the local cemetery.

The village of Ezbet Al-Musadara was overwhelmed with grief. Many wept openly, and Khaled’s brother, Hajj Magdy Abdel-Aal, said that heroism and bravery were nothing new for his late brother. Khaled was always known for his courage and integrity.

His younger brother added: “I always confided in him. He was compassionate, despite his work responsibilities. He had one son, Ahmed, and three daughters. He was looking forward to seeing his son’s future unfold.”
