Egypt Daily News – The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) issued an urgent notice to citizens who have imported phones without registering them through the “TeliFone” app, which has been operational in Egypt since January 1, 2025.
The authority urged users who have outstanding fees for their mobile devices to pay the fees promptly within the specified deadline.
Starting from April 7, 2025, the NTRA will begin suspending non-compliant devices that have not been paid for, across all mobile networks operating in Egypt.
The fees on imported mobile phones are set at 38.5% of the phone’s total value. Mohamed Ibrahim, Head of Community Communication at the NTRA, previously stated that all imported mobile phones, except for personal phones, will be subject to the announced fees.
As per Ibrahim, phones used in January 2025 will have their payment deadline on April 7, 2025. After that date, service will be suspended on these devices unless the fees are paid via the “TeliFone” app, which shows the outstanding amounts.
