President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has directed authorities to closely monitor and swiftly address any complaints related to service quality across the country’s airports, emphasizing the importance of improving the overall travel experience and boosting passenger confidence.
The directive came during a high-level meeting on Saturday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Abbas Helmy, Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, and Presidential Advisor for Financial Affairs Lieutenant General Ahmed El-Shazly.
The meeting focused on the ongoing modernization of Cairo International Airport, including updates on the construction of Terminal 4, a key project aimed at enhancing infrastructure and upgrading the airport’s service quality.
Massive Expansion in Passenger Capacity
According to Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, President El-Sisi was briefed on the execution status of Terminal 4, which is designed to be one of the most advanced airport terminals in the world.
Minister of Civil Aviation Abbas Helmy confirmed that the new terminal will have a minimum capacity of 30 million passengers annually, effectively raising Cairo International Airport’s total capacity to over 60 million passengers per year. The facility is expected to incorporate cutting-edge smart technologies and offer a seamless, world-class travel experience.
President El-Sisi underscored the necessity for the project to be built upon a modern operational model that incorporates state-of-the-art systems for air navigation, ground operations, and building management. He also emphasized the importance of integrating technological innovation driven by R&D to create a smart, sustainable airport environment aligned with international standards.
Strategic Vision for Civil Aviation
The president reviewed broader national efforts to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of Egypt’s civil aviation sector. The government aims to increase the annual passenger capacity of Egyptian airports to 72.2 million by the end of 2025, in tandem with improving service quality. These efforts align with Egypt’s national goal of attracting 30 million tourists annually.
Focus on Passenger Experience
The President’s repeated emphasis on addressing service-related complaints in airports signals a shift toward passenger-centric policies. President El-Sisi stated that every complaint must be taken seriously and resolved quickly as part of a broader strategy to improve public services, strengthen Egypt’s global reputation in air travel, and encourage both tourism and business travel.
This focus comes as Egypt continues to position itself as a regional hub for air transport, tourism, and trade an ambition that hinges on infrastructure development, international partnerships, and delivering high-quality experiences to visitors and citizens alike.
