President El-Sisi Receives President of the Cypriot House of Representatives

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received President of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus, Mrs. Annita Demetriou. The meeting was also attended by Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives, Dr. Hanafi El-Gibali, and the Cypriot Ambassador in Cairo. 

Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President El-Sisi underscored the depth and strength of relations between the two countries and their peoples, highlighting Egypt’s commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, particularly in energy, trade, investment, as well as political coordination. The President emphasized the importance of parliamentary cooperation as a cornerstone for strengthening bilateral relations and mutual understanding between the two countries and their peoples.

The meeting focused on regional and international developments, including the situation in Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon. The two sides reiterated the necessity to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the states and to uphold international law, while stressing the crucial importance of settling crises through peaceful means.

President El-Sisi confirmed the significance of further advancing consultations and coordination between Egypt and Cyprus on the bilateral level and within the framework of the Trilateral Cooperation Mechanism involving Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece.

The President of the Cypriot House of Representatives commended the outstanding level of relations between Egypt and Cyprus, saying her visit reflects a mutual desire to increase parliamentary exchanges of visits.
