President El-Sisi Receives President of the Republic of Tatarstan

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, Rustam Minnikhanov, at Al-Ittihadiya Palace.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly; Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Mr. Alaa El-Din Farouk; Minister of Culture Dr. Jehan Zaki; and Minister of Industry Eng. Khaled Hashem. Also attending the meeting were Chargé d’Affaires of the Russian Embassy in Cairo Mr. Yuri Matveev; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Mr. Oleg Korobchenko; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Food Mr. Marat Zyabbarov; Aide to the Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan and Director of International Relations Mr. Bakirov Gazinur; Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mr. Marat Gatin; Minister of Culture Ms. Irada Ayupova; and Trade and Economic Representative of the Republic of Tatarstan Mr.Timur Khairutdinov.

Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President El-Sisi welcomed President Minnikhanov to Egypt and asked him to convey his greetings to President Vladimir Putin. The President lauded the momentum generated in the strategic relations between Egypt and the Russian Federation across all fields, including with the Republic of Tatarstan. President El-Sisi highlighted the significant development taking place in Tatarstan, particularly in the sectors of industry, technology, and agriculture, affirming Egypt’s keenness on strengthening economic relations with the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan. The President extended his congratulations on the selection of the city of Kazan as the Capital of Islamic Culture for 2026.

President Minnikhanov, for his part, expressed his deep appreciation for meeting with President El-Sisi and for the warm reception he received during his visit. President Minnikhanov emphasized the strong interest of the Tatarstan government in fostering closer relations with Egypt across all fields, noting the progress achieved since his last visit to Cairo in 2018 and President El-Sisi’s historic visit to Kazan in 2024 to participate in the BRICS Summit. The President of Tatarstan expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal and tangible role in the Middle East and Africa, as well as its efforts to maintain regional security. He also commended the significant efforts undertaken by President El-Sisi in this regard.

The meeting addressed a number of important issues within the framework of bilateral relations between Egypt, the Russian Federation, and the Republic of Tatarstan, foremost among them the Russian Industrial Zone project in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. President El-Sisi invited industrial developers and investors from Tatarstan to participate in this important project. Both President El-Sisi and the President of Tatarstan also emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture, education, tourism, agriculture, and industry, among other areas of mutual interest.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of Tatarstan requested that any future visit by President El-Sisi to the Russian Federation include a visit to the city of Kazan, a proposal that was welcomed by the President.
