The Presidency

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides.

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the two presidents stressed the strategic nature of relations between the two countries, and the need to work to further strengthen them, especially economic, investment and trade cooperation, as well as in energy.

This is in addition to holding meetings of the tripartite cooperation mechanism among Egypt, Cyprus and Greece periodically, within the framework of efforts to enhance regional cooperation.

The call also addressed regional developments. The President stressed the need to preserve the unity and territorial integrity of Syria, stressing the importance of starting a comprehensive political process that includes all spectrums of the Syrian people.

The President also stressed that it was important to swiftly reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, exchange hostages and ensure access to humanitarian aid by the people in the Strip without restrictions or obstacles.

The Cypriot president stressed his appreciation and support for Egypt’s continuous endeavors and the President’s personal efforts to achieve calm and stability and avoid escalation in the Middle East, which may threaten the capabilities of peoples and the safety of countries.
