Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said both President El-Sisi and Prime Minister Ibrahim lauded the strong historical relations between their countries and exchanged greetings on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

The President and the Malaysian prime minister reviewed the current regional developments related to the war with Iran. The President emphasized Egypt’s firm stance calling for de-escalation and an end to the war, affirming Egypt’s condemnation of attacks on Arab states and its categorical rejection of any infringement upon their stability and their sovereignty under any pretext.

The President also warned of the negative economic repercussions of the war at both the regional and international levels, particularly rising energy prices and supply chains. The Malaysian prime minister commended Egypt’s efforts, under the leadership of the President, to contain the crisis, de-escalate tensions, and end the war, affirming his country’s support for these efforts and its keenness to strengthen coordination with Egypt in this regard.

The call also addressed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The Malaysian prime minister emphasized the importance of Egypt’s role in reaching the Sharm El-Sheikh ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the need for its full implementation, including the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. He noted Malaysia’s intention to provide more humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip and to coordinate with the relevant Egyptian authorities in this regard.

The Malaysian prime minister expressed his condemnation of the Israeli attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank.

The call also touched on the distinguished relations between Egypt and Malaysia. Both sides affirmed the importance of continuing to boost cooperation across various fields and develop economic, trade, and investment partnerships, including the increase of Malaysian investments in Egypt.
