The Presidency
Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the call addressed the latest regional developments. President El-Sisi discussed Egypt’s efforts to halt the escalation and the ongoing war in the region and emphasized the importance of sparing the region’s peoples further instability. The President stressed the need to de-escalate current tensions, due to their negative repercussions on regional security and stability, as well as their economic and trade impacts at both the regional and international levels.
President El-Sisi noted the need for concerted regional and international efforts to end the war. The President also reiterated Egypt’s condemnation and categorical rejection of Iranian attacks on the sovereignty of Arab states, emphasizing the need to cease these attacks and respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Arab states, reaffirming Egypt’s support for the Arab nations.
The Ukrainian president expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s de-escalation efforts and endeavors to maintain regional stability. He affirmed his agreement with President El-Sisi’s remarks regarding the necessity of avoiding the consequences of the current escalation. The Ukrainian president also outlined his efforts to prevent further escalation in the Middle East.
The call also addressed developments in the Russian-Ukrainian war. The Ukrainian president reviewed the latest developments in the crisis and thanked the President for Egypt’s stance on the crisis and its commitment to ending the war. President El-Sisi emphasized the importance of adopting peaceful solutions to resolve the crisis, noting Egypt’s support for all efforts aimed at reaching a political settlement as soon as possible.
The two presidents also reviewed bilateral relations and agreed to continue working on developing them across various fields, including trade, investment, and food security, as well as exploring new opportunities for joint cooperation between the two countries to serve the interests of their peoples.
