The Presidency

“In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful”

Your Majesty King Felipe VI,

King of the Spain

Your Majesty Queen Letizia,

Queen of Spain

Honorable Ministers,

Ladies and gentlemen,

Distinguished guests,

At the beginning, I would like to extend a warm welcome to His Majesty the King of Spain and Her Majesty the Queen, to their second home, Egypt; the heart of the ancient world and a bridge of communication among civilizations. This ancient country, with a deep-rooted history, has witnessed throughout the ages close relations with Spain, its people, and the Spanish Royal Family. It has been, and will always remain, their second home, a land that welcomes them with open doors and receives them as honorable guests and dear friends.

The state visit by His Majesty King Felipe VI to Egypt, though it is his first to the Land of Kenana, also marks the first visit by a high-level Spanish official to Egypt since our two friendly nations elevated our relations to the level of a strategic partnership. This was following the signing of the declaration of partnership, which we greatly value, during my visit to your friendly country in February 2025, a visit during which I was honored by your gracious hospitality.

This visit also serves as a powerful testament to the robust bonds of friendship and cooperation our two countries share. It is a genuine expression of our shared commitment to strengthening and further expanding them toward new and promising prospects.

This, I believe, provides an opportunity to underscore the firm and strategic bilateral relations between our two countries and peoples, across all levels and in various fields.

Our two nations have established an exemplary model to be emulated for fostering positive and advanced relations that serve the interests of their peoples and achieve their shared goals, both bilaterally and on the regional and multilateral fronts.

I would like to seize this opportunity to laud the remarkable progress of our bilateral cooperation in the transport sector. We hope to draw inspiration from this success as we expand our collaboration into all other spheres.

I would also like to highlight the outstanding cultural cooperation between our countries, particularly in the fields of archaeological excavation and heritage preservation. There are currently around 13 Spanish archaeological missions active in Egypt, operating in the areas of Saqqara, Luxor, Aswan, and Wadi al-Gamal.

Your Majesty,

As you are well aware, Egypt is currently facing formidable challenges across its various strategic fronts, to the east, west, and south, in addition to the shared challenges we confront in the Mediterranean. Spain also fully understands the grave challenges facing the Palestinian issue and the direct threat to the political prospects for a settlement based on the two-state solution, as a consequence of the unspeakable suffering and unimaginable humanitarian catastrophe inflicted upon the Gaza Strip by the war.

We are also witnessing persistent attempts to fragment the West Bank, through both calls for annexation and ongoing spread of settlements in its occupied territories.

At this point, I cannot but commend Spain’s honorable positions in support of the peace process in the Middle East, primarily the Palestinian cause, which remains the core of the conflict in the region.

I would like to express my profound appreciation for Spain’s historic stance in upholding the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to establish their state, and for Spain’s recognition at a highly critical and sensitive time of the State of Palestine. Spain was at the forefront of countries to make this principled decision, following the outbreak of the war in the Gaza Strip, a decision that undeniably aligns with the right side of history.

Spain’s support for a just and comprehensive peace in the region embodies its unwavering adherence to the principles of ethics, truth, and justice, a stance that is held in the highest regard at both the official and popular levels. We sincerely hope this support will endure, and look forward to cooperating to secure a lasting and equitable peace for the peoples of the region.

Once again, I extend my gratitude and appreciation to Your Majesty, and my respect for your esteemed person.

I wish Your Majesty a most successful and pleasant visit to Egypt. We shall always be honored by your visits to your second home Egypt

Thank you
