Egypt Daily News – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has expressed support for Egypt’s role in mediating a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, highlighting the importance of regional cooperation in addressing the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

In a speech following a government meeting, Erdoğan stated that Turkey maintains a close dialogue with Egypt on various regional issues, including Gaza, North Africa, and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Emphasizing Turkey’s solidarity with the Palestinian cause, Erdoğan criticized Israel’s expansionist policies and called for a stronger unified stance from countries in the region.

He announced that Turkey has intensified efforts to encourage the Islamic world to take a firmer position against what he described as genocide in Gaza, which he noted has been ongoing for 12 months.

Erdoğan reflected on the improved relations between Turkey and Egypt, particularly following President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s visit to Ankara on September 4, and Erdoğan’s earlier trip to Cairo in February.

He reiterated Turkey’s commitment to support the mediation efforts in Gaza led by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States through diplomatic channels and intelligence cooperation. Additionally, he vowed to pursue accountability for Israeli officials accused of crimes in Gaza through international courts.
