Egypt Daily News – During the BRICS Plus meeting, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi addressed the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza, emphasizing their implications for international relations and the concept of double standards in global governance.
He underscored that the complexities of global crises, particularly the Middle East conflict, must be acknowledged, particularly in light of the violence against citizens in Gaza and the spillover into Lebanese territories.
This, he argued, reflects a broader abandonment of international principles and constitutes a violation of international law.
President El-Sisi called for concerted international efforts to prevent further escalation into an all-out war in the region, highlighting the detrimental effects of the ongoing conflicts on maritime traffic in the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea, as well as the stability of global supply chains.
He expressed appreciation for the BRICS+ initiative, emphasizing its potential to facilitate beneficial collaborations among member countries.
President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s readiness to enhance joint efforts and capacity-building with other nations, affirming Egypt’s commitment to working within the BRICS framework to foster cooperation and achieve common goals for the future.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also acknowledged Egypt’s active role and full membership in BRICS, expressing hope for Egypt’s contributions to the group’s objectives.
