Egypt Daily News – President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has mandated an extensive assessment of the performance of Egyptian sports federations involved in the Olympic mission for the Paris 2024 Games.

This initiative is aimed at enhancing the sports system in Egypt, emphasizing accountability, transparency, and the removal of barriers hindering athletes’ performance.

The objective is to ensure outstanding results that honor Egypt’s reputation and satisfy its citizens. Following the Minister of Youth and Sports’ report, the president has called for immediate actions, including a comprehensive legal review of the financial support given to these federations.

This review will clarify funding criteria and establish stronger guidelines for future allocations. Special attention will be given to federations that have exceeded expectations, providing them with necessary support to boost their performance in upcoming competitions.

Additionally, President El-Sisi has instructed measures against federations that have exhibited negative conduct, impacting the integrity of Egyptian sports.

He proposed restricting participation in sports disciplines where Egypt lacks a competitive edge to focus on promising athletes.

Selection criteria for athletes will be refined, factoring in local and international achievements, while the size of the technical and administrative teams for Olympic delegations will be reduced.

The president also emphasized the importance of inter-ministerial cooperation to identify the best competitors for the games and ordered a review of the participation strategy for the Paris Olympics.

This strategy will consider the new regulations and measures to maximize success for athletes. Ultimately, the participation plan will be submitted to the Cabinet for further decision-making, and the government has been tasked with prioritizing amendments to the sports law for future legislative consideration.
