Egypt’s Foreign Minister delivered a written message from Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to Vladimir Putin during an official visit to Moscow on Thursday, highlighting efforts to deepen bilateral relations and coordinate on key regional and international issues.

During the meeting, Badr Abdelatty conveyed President Sisi’s greetings and handed over a letter addressing ways to further develop cooperation and strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries. The message also stressed the importance of continued coordination on issues of mutual concern.

Abdelatty emphasized the high priority Egypt places on its strategic relationship with Russia, noting that ongoing high-level exchanges between officials from both countries reflect the depth and strength of cooperation across multiple sectors.

President Putin, in turn, asked that his greetings and appreciation be conveyed to President Sisi, praising the strong ties between Cairo and Moscow and the expanding cooperation in various fields. He also commended Egypt’s diplomatic role in mediation efforts aimed at reducing tensions and supporting stability in the Middle East.

According to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf, the talks covered key aspects of bilateral cooperation, including major joint projects. Egypt reaffirmed the importance of completing the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant in line with the agreed timeline, with both sides expressing commitment to advancing the project.

Discussions also addressed the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, seen as a significant step in expanding economic cooperation. Both sides stressed the importance of accelerating implementation, with strong interest from Russian companies.

Food security cooperation was another key focus, particularly Egypt’s imports of wheat, grains, and oils from Russia. Both countries expressed their intention to maintain and further develop this partnership, including the potential establishment of a logistics hub for grain and energy supplies.

On regional developments, the meeting addressed the ongoing escalation in the Middle East. Egypt outlined its diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions, with both sides emphasizing that political solutions and dialogue remain the best path to avoid further expansion of conflict.

Abdelatty also reviewed the outcomes of a recent quadrilateral ministerial meeting held in Islamabad, reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to supporting regional stability through continued diplomatic engagement.

The Palestinian issue was also discussed, with Egypt reiterating the need for a comprehensive solution based on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Developments in the West Bank and the situation in Gaza were also addressed.

The talks further covered developments in Sudan, Libya, and the Horn of Africa. Egypt emphasized that water security remains a critical national priority and stressed the importance of respecting international law in addressing shared water resources.
