Egypt Daily News – In his address at the 40th educational symposium of the Egyptian armed forces, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi addressed ongoing criticism regarding Egypt’s extensive military arms deals over the past decade.

During his speech, which commemorated the 51st anniversary of Egypt’s victory in the October War, President Sisi chose not to engage with the question about the motivations behind these military procurements, stating, “I will not answer this question.”

President Sisi emphasized that the arming of the military is not primarily a response to any current conflict, but rather a strategic necessity for ensuring the comprehensive strength of the nation, which includes military, economic, and cultural dimensions.

He stressed the importance of keeping the army and police in a state of high readiness to protect Egypt and its resources.

Additionally, President Sisi asserted that the capabilities of the Egyptian army are sufficient to defend the country, reinforcing his message of national strength and resilience.

In his speech, he also touched on the broader regional context, stating that resolving the Palestinian issue could significantly affect the stability and peace of the region, underscoring the hope for Palestinian statehood with Jerusalem as its capital.
