President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has called on Egypt’s National Election Authority (NEA) to publicly disclose the actions it has taken regarding electoral campaign violations reported during the latest round of parliamentary elections. The president emphasized that transparent oversight is essential to ensuring that campaign practices remain within the bounds of the law and that any irregularities are not repeated in the upcoming stages of the electoral process.

In a statement posted on his official social media accounts, President Sisi said he had been informed of several incidents that occurred in constituencies witnessing competition among individual parliamentary candidates. He stressed that the NEA alone holds the legal authority to examine and adjudicate such matters, noting that it operates independently in accordance with the law governing its establishment.

The president urged the Authority to conduct a thorough and meticulous review of all incidents and challenges submitted concerning events in the contested districts. He called on the NEA to make decisions grounded in integrity and fairness, reflecting what he described as the true will of voters.

Sisi also highlighted the importance of enhancing transparency in the electoral process. He underscored the need to ensure that each candidate’s representative receives an official copy of the vote tally from every subcommittee, a measure he said would reinforce public confidence and ensure that the final results genuinely represent the choices of Egyptian voters.

The president added that the Authority must not hesitate to take decisive action when it proves impossible to fully ascertain voters’ intent. This could include the complete or partial annulment of election results in one or more constituencies, followed by reruns to guarantee that elected members of Parliament truly reflect the voice of the Egyptian people under the legislative dome.

The president’s message comes at a sensitive moment in the electoral cycle, highlighting the government’s emphasis on maintaining fairness, transparency, and public trust in the democratic process. The NEA is expected to address the reported violations and outline the measures it has taken in the coming days, as the country continues preparing for subsequent stages of the parliamentary elections.
