Egypt Daily News – During an Iftar ceremony in Michigan, U.S. President Trump hosted what he referred to as his “Muslim friends,” who he credited with helping secure his decisive victory in the 2024 presidential elections.
In his speech, President Trump expressed gratitude, saying, “I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to the hundreds of thousands of American Muslims who supported us in record numbers in the 2024 presidential election,” specifically thanking his Middle East advisor and son-in-law, Massad Boulos.
He added, “It was amazing. We started off a little slowly with you, but we kept moving forward. By the end of that election, we realized we had soared like a rocket… Don’t forget, you have a president who loves you in the White House.”
Trump emphasized that his administration continues to fulfill its promises to the Muslim community in America, reiterating his commitment to advancing the Abraham Accords for stability in the Middle East. He said, “Everyone said it was impossible, but it’s getting close… I’m striving for peace around the world.”
Trump had successfully garnered support from many minority groups in the recent election, including Arab American voters in Michigan, which was a key battleground state. Discontent with the Biden administration’s handling of the Gaza conflict contributed to lower turnout for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, strengthening Trump’s victory in the state.
Trump’s campaign also received support from prominent figures in the Muslim community, including Amer Ghaleb, the mayor of Hamtramck, Michigan, which became the first U.S. city to elect an entirely Muslim city council.
