Putin sends a message to Abbas about the importance of resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict

Egypt Daily News – Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a telegram to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas urging him to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The text of the telegram read by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin, during an event held at the Palestinian Embassy in Moscow on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, stated: “I would like to reiterate that Russia has been calling for a comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, on an international legal basis.” Universally recognized, including the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

Putin added that efforts in this direction (resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict) are needed especially now, when your compatriots are facing difficult circumstances, according to the letter.

Putin indicated that Russian-Palestinian relations are friendly, which was confirmed by the meetings that took place in Moscow last August and in Kazan last October.

The Russian President also expressed his confidence that joint efforts will enable the parties to ensure the development of constructive bilateral relations for the benefit of the two peoples (Palestinian and Russian).

Putin concluded his message by wishing health to Abbas and peace to the Palestinians.
