Egypt Daily News – Diaa Rashwan, expressed concern over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent actions, suggesting they lack rational justification and may stem from extreme religious ideologies.
In an interview on “Extra News” with journalist Riham El-Sahli, he described recent decisions made by the Israeli political-security cabinet to alter their objectives in Gaza, indicating a focus on returning residents from the north to their homes.
Rashwan highlighted the failures of Israeli operations in Gaza, noting that few hostages have been returned, and that the goal of eliminating Hamas or ensuring its future absence has not been achieved, as ongoing clashes continue to occur.
He pointed out that Israel continues to negotiate indirectly with Hamas through various mediators, including Egypt and the U.S.
Additionally, Rashwan mentioned significant events in Lebanon contributing to tensions in the region, such as the assassinations of key Hezbollah and Hamas figures, which he interpreted as showcasing a potentially irrational conflict mentality from Netanyahu.
He warned that Netanyahu seems to be pursuing measures that could escalate regional tensions, indicating a dangerous, extreme mindset that echoes biblical notions of apocalyptic scenarios, drawing parallels to historical events in Jewish tradition.
Rashwan’s commentary reflects a belief that Netanyahu’s actions could lead to further instability in the region, and he criticized the Prime Minister’s approach as one driven by extremist interpretations rather than pragmatic political strategy.
