Egypt Daily News – The U.S. President’s envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, announced that talks with Russia regarding the conflict in Ukraine will take place next Sunday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Witkoff told Fox News that National Security Advisor Michael Waltz and Secretary of State Marco Rubio will lead the U.S. delegation to the upcoming talks on Ukraine in Saudi Arabia.

He noted that discussions between the United States and Russia regarding a resolution to the Ukraine conflict have been yielding positive results and that the parties are working on finalizing the necessary details for a complete ceasefire. “We have discussed the fundamental conditions to achieve this goal. It has been very positive. Starting Sunday in Jeddah, we will begin working on the details, then move toward a comprehensive ceasefire.”

He added, “Until recently, there was no agreement between Russia and the United States regarding halting attacks on energy infrastructure and imposing a temporary halt to shelling in the Black Sea. However, on Tuesday, after a conversation at the level of both countries’ leaders, progress was made in these areas. I believe that from now on, a full ceasefire is relatively close.”

He pointed out that the parties have already agreed on two main aspects: stopping attacks on energy and other infrastructure, as well as in the Black Sea.

He continued, “The ceasefire agreement reached includes strikes not only on energy facilities but also on infrastructure in general. It is not just about energy; it is about infrastructure as a whole. This will be part of a 30-day truce.” At the same time, he clarified that the details are still being discussed.

Witkoff added that Russian President Vladimir Putin, during the talks, supported Donald Trump’s approach and agreed on the need to avoid further losses on the battlefield.

Meanwhile, Wittkoff confirmed that the United States expects Ukraine to support the agreements reached during the talks between Presidents Putin and Trump.

“I certainly hope that the Ukrainians will agree to this,” Witkoff told Fox News.

Earlier, the White House stated that Putin and Trump had agreed in a phone conversation to immediately begin talks in the Middle East to establish a “ceasefire in the Black Sea and a full ceasefire for lasting peace.”

They also emphasized the need to improve bilateral relations between the United States and Russia.
