Egypt Daily News – Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman met with Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Tehran. The agency stated that the Saudi minister delivered a message from Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz to the Iranian leader.
This took place during an official visit by Prince Khalid bin Salman and his accompanying delegation. During the trip, he also met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The visit was carried out under the direction of the Saudi leadership and includes a series of meetings aimed at discussing bilateral relations between the two countries and addressing issues of mutual concern.
In this context, developments resulting from Prince Khalid’s visit emerged, as Iran’s Chief of Staff, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, described the relationship with Riyadh as witnessing “growth and development” since the signing of the Beijing Agreement in March 2023.
General Bagheri said, “Tehran and Riyadh can play an important role in ensuring regional security,” adding, “Good relations with Riyadh disappoint enemies and bring joy to friends.”
Both Saudi Arabia and Iran have previously expressed their desire to strengthen bilateral relations, continuing steps toward the implementation of the decision to resume diplomatic ties. Saudi confirmation was met with similar emphasis from Iran, which sees the relationship with Saudi Arabia as vital and necessary for both peoples and for the region, according to earlier Iranian official statements.
Since the two countries announced the Beijing Agreement in 2023, both sides have reiterated their commitment to implementing all its terms and continuing efforts to strengthen good neighborly relations. This includes adhering to UN charters, the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and international law, including respect for the sovereignty, independence, and security of states.
