Egypt Daily News – The Olympic Committee, in coordination with the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Egypt, recently announced an increase in the financial rewards for Egyptian athletes who secured medals at the Paris Olympics.
According to this announcement, the financial rewards are structured as follows:
- Gold medalists will receive 5 million pounds (approximately $100,000).
- Silver medalists will receive 4 million pounds (around $80,000).
- Bronze medalists will receive 3 million pounds (roughly $60,000).
In addition to these amounts, each medalist will also receive an immediate reward of 1,000 Euros (about $1,100) and a valuable watch.
The Egyptian delegation’s achieved a total of three medals in the Olympics:
- Ahmed El Gendy won the gold medal in the modern pentathlon.
- Sarah Samir secured the silver medal in weightlifting in the 81-kilogram category.
- Mohamed El Sayed captured the bronze medal in fencing.
This increase in rewards reflects the country’s commitment to supporting and motivating its athletes in their pursuit of excellence on the international stage.
