Syrian Foreign Minister from Doha: We reiterate our call to lift sanctions on Syria

Egypt Daily News – On Sunday, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani renewed his demand that the United States lift sanctions on the Syrian people.

This came during his first official visit to the Qatari capital, where Al-Shaibani stated that he conveyed Damascus’ concerns to Doha, especially regarding economic sanctions.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the new Syrian administration said that Qatar had a prominent role in supporting the Syrian people, and would be a partner in the peace phase.

He pointed out that he discussed with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani all basic and strategic issues, thanking Qatar for its assistance and strategic partnership with Damascus.

Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Al-Khulaifi, said that he discussed with the Syrian delegation steps that would contribute to building the Syrian state of tomorrow, stressing that his country would spare no effort to support the brothers in Syria.

Qatar was the second country after Türkiye to reopen its embassy in Damascus after the fall of Assad.
