Egypt Daily News – The EU calls for a swift resumption of negotiations on the second phase of the ceasefire in the war-torn Gaza Strip, expressing its strong support for the mediators.
In a press release published today, Monday, on its official website, the European Union’s External Action Service stated that Israel’s decision to block all humanitarian aid from entering Gaza will inevitably lead to severe humanitarian consequences.
The statement noted that a permanent ceasefire would contribute to the release of all remaining Israeli hostages while ensuring the necessary conditions for recovery and reconstruction in Gaza. All parties bear political responsibility for making this ambition a reality.
The European Union reiterated its calls for full, rapid, safe, and unhindered access to large-scale humanitarian aid for Palestinians in need, as well as for facilitating the effective and safe work of humanitarian workers and international organizations inside Gaza.
In conclusion, the EU stated that its civilian border assistance mission at the Rafah crossing, “EUBAM Rafah,” is ready to resume its work if requested by the parties. It also pointed out that, thanks to the presence of this mission, nearly 3,000 people have been able to cross the border since February 1.
