Egypt Daily News – The Secretary General of the Sixth Egyptian Press Conference, Dr. Wahid Abdel Majeed, a short while ago, presented the recommendations of the conference, whose activities began last Saturday inside the Journalists Syndicate building.
Abdel Majeed said during the closing day of the conference that the recommendations included the necessity of releasing all imprisoned journalists, and clearing prisons of those accused in cases of publishing, opinion, and expression, especially those who had exceeded the period of pretrial detention.
He added that the recommendations also included issuing a law to abolish “freedom-depriving penalties for publishing and publicity crimes”, and we that have a project that the Syndicate Council and the General Secretariat worked on.
The recommendations confirmed support for the Journalists Syndicate’s position on the Criminal Procedure Code.
