Egypt Daily News – The U.S. announced on Sunday that it had “killed several key leaders of the Houthi group in airstrikes targeting Yemen.”

US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz stated that “the situation in Yemen, which the Trump administration inherited from the Biden administration, was dire,” emphasizing that “all options are always on the table when dealing with Iran, and it must stop supporting the Houthis.”

Waltz added that “Houthis possesses incredibly advanced air defenses, as well as anti-ship cruise missiles, attack drones flying over the sea, and ballistic missiles.” He pointed out that “the group has carried out dozens of attacks on warships and targeted global trade.”

The Yemeni Houthi group announced on Sunday that US airstrikes had resumed on areas under its control in Saada province, the group’s stronghold in northwestern Yemen.

According to the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV, “US airstrikes have resumed on the city of Saada, the capital of Saada province, which borders Saudi Arabia.” It reported that “the American aggression targeted the Bedouin area of Al-Sab’ah in Sahar district (west of Saada city) with three airstrikes, leading to the deaths of hundreds of sheep,” as stated by the channel.

The U.S. strikes on Yemen came after President Donald Trump announced the launch of the military operation, stressing the need to stop the Houthi attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and warning the group of “a hell they have never witnessed before.”

On Monday, the Houthis declared the resumption of its ban on Israeli ships passing through the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, and the Gulf of Aden, following the expiration of a four-day deadline given to Israel to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza.

These developments come amid escalating tensions in the region, raising concerns about a wider conflict and its impact on maritime security and global trade.
