Egypt Daily News – On Tuesday, the U.S. State Department announced its approval of a potential military deal with the Egyptian government valued at approximately $740 million, which includes Stinger missiles that have proven successful in every conflict.

A statement from the U.S. State Department indicated that the Egyptian government requested to purchase 720 Stinger missiles for use on Avenger systems, including spare parts, testing equipment, and engineering, technical, and logistical support services, including vehicles with Avenger systems and spare parts, testing equipment, engineering, technical, and logistical support services.

The U.S. State Department considered that “this potential deal could support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by helping to enhance the security of a friendly nation that remains an important force for political stability and economic growth in the Middle East.”

It stated that “the proposed sale would enhance Egypt’s ability to confront current and future threats by strengthening its capacity to defend itself against malicious regional actors and improving interoperability with systems operated by U.S. forces and other regional security partners.”

The U.S. State Department added that “Egypt’s continued investment in its defense capabilities is crucial for protecting its borders, transportation infrastructure, and its population,” and that Egypt would not find it difficult to integrate Stinger missiles into its armed forces.

That this potential deal would not alter the basic military balance in the region.
