Egypt Daily News – Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, spoke today with David Lammy, the British Minister of Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth Affairs, and Development. This is the second call between the two ministers in a short timeframe, underscoring the strong ties between Egypt and the United Kingdom and highlighting their shared interest in discussing regional developments.

During the call, Minister Abdel Aty focused on updates concerning the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip. He emphasized Egypt’s commitment to facilitating a ceasefire, the release of hostages and detainees, and the delivery of essential humanitarian aid to the region.

He reiterated the necessity of a two-state solution, advocating for the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state with contiguous territories—a critical pathway for achieving lasting peace.

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, conveyed that Minister Abdel Aty expressed concerns regarding the potential escalation of violence beyond Gaza, which could impact stability in neighboring regions such as Lebanon and disrupt maritime security in the Red Sea.

He stressed the urgency for the Israeli government to engage in immediate efforts to cease hostilities.

Additionally, Minister Abdel Aty informed Minister Lammy about his recent diplomatic engagements with various foreign ministers aimed at diffusing the rising tensions in the region.
