Egypt Daily News – U.S. President Donald Trump commented on the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, saying that “something may happen soon in the Middle East,” without providing further details.

In remarks to reporters at the White House on Thursday, Trump indicated that “an Israeli strike on Iran is very likely,” adding: “I don’t want to say the attack is imminent, but the possibility exists.” He warned against taking military steps that could hinder what he described as “nearing an agreement on Iran’s nuclear program.” Trump stated, “Israel should think twice before any escalation, especially since we might be close to a deal.”

Trump’s comments come amid an unprecedented escalation between Iran and Israel in the Middle East, raising concerns that the conflict could expand into a regional confrontation. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to attack Iran’s nuclear program, calling for its complete dismantling and removal of all infrastructure.

The United States insists on negotiating with Iran to abandon its nuclear program, while Tehran maintains that it will not give up its right to enrich uranium and possess nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, denying any intent to develop nuclear weapons.

IRGC Commander: We Are Ready for War, and Israel Cannot Withstand Iran’s Power

The Commander-in-Chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Hossein Salami, stated that “Iran is ready for combat under any potential scenario,” issuing a direct warning to the “enemy” to carefully consider the consequences of its actions, clearly referring to the tensions with Israel.

According to the Tasnim news agency, Salami made these remarks on Thursday during a speech to Basij forces at Imam Hussein University in Tehran.

He said, “We are ready, this is a truth we have lived for years. Readiness for war on any scale is our duty and our profession. We have the experience, the power, and the strategy.” Referring to what he called the “enemy’s failure to politically isolate Iran,” Salami emphasized that “Tehran has become a key player in regional and international dynamics, to the extent that no issue can be resolved without it.”

In a striking attack on Israel, the IRGC chief said: “The enemy thinks it can face Iran the same way it confronts the besieged people of Gaza. But it couldn’t even withstand the youth of Yemen—so how could it face mighty Iran?”

He also spoke about recent “security achievements,” saying: “In the intelligence war, which is a form of modern warfare, Iran has shown superiority… The exposure of Zionist intelligence breaches was a strong message about our capabilities.” Salami concluded by expressing his confidence in the awareness and resilience of the Iranian people, calling it “the real weapon in multi-dimensional battles, whether economic, cultural, or informational.”

Earlier, Israeli media reported that President Donald Trump instructed the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) and military forces to halt coordination with Israel regarding a joint strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Channel 12 in Israel stated that “President Trump ordered the freezing or cancellation of joint strike plans with Israel on Iran,” noting that “Trump had previously warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against launching an attack on Iran.” The channel confirmed that Trump had made a phone call to Netanyahu, warning him of “the consequences of launching a strike on Iranian nuclear facilities,” at a time when nuclear negotiations between Washington and Tehran had reached an advanced stage.
