Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One en route to Japan, President Donald Trump did not rule out a bid for a third presidential term in 2028, despite the 22nd Amendment, which limits presidents to two elected terms.

Trump said, “I would love to do it… I have my best numbers ever,” while emphasizing that the Republican Party has “very good” potential candidates for 2028. He mentioned members of his administration, including Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as strong prospects.

When asked if he would consider legal action to pursue another term, Trump replied, “I haven’t really thought about it.” He dismissed the idea of running as vice president, calling it “too cute” and unlikely to be well-received.

Trump also addressed recent health screenings at Walter Reed Medical Center, highlighting that an MRI he underwent was “perfect”. He stated that his doctors gave him some of the “best reports they’ve ever seen” for someone his age. He added that if the tests had revealed serious issues, he “wouldn’t run.”

Overall, while Trump praised the GOP field and his own polling numbers, he left open the possibility of a future campaign, framing it around his health and continued support.
