Egypt Daily News – Wissam Abu Ali, the Palestinian striker for Al Ahly’s first team, has opened the door to a potential move abroad following his standout performances at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Amid growing interest from several international clubs, Abu Ali has expressed both his satisfaction with Al Ahly and his desire to pursue a professional career overseas.
Al Ahly exited the Club World Cup after a dramatic 4-4 draw with FC Porto in the final round of the group stage. The match, played early last Tuesday, featured an exceptional performance from Abu Ali, who scored a hat-trick and was named Man of the Match.
Speaking on his radio program “Ma’a Shobeir” on ON Sport FM, broadcaster Ahmed Shobeir revealed the details of his recent conversation with Abu Ali. According to Shobeir, the striker expressed his happiness at Al Ahly and his pride in representing the club. He also shared that he had hoped to continue the Porto match to score more goals but was forced off due to a thigh injury.
“Wissam said he’s happy at Al Ahly but mentioned he has received offers,” Shobeir said. “He emphasized that he is fully committed to the club but dreams of playing professionally at a big club. I believe some of the offers are from the United States.”
Shobeir also noted that Abu Ali declined to discuss the financial details of his contract with Al Ahly, stating only that “everything is fine” regarding his wages and contract terms.
According to sources close to the player, Major League Soccer club New York Red Bulls has shown serious interest and submitted an offer valued at approximately 6 million US dollars. Meanwhile, a club from the German Bundesliga has also expressed its desire to sign the player, although the details of that offer have not yet been disclosed.
In a related development, several foreign media outlets have reported growing interest in Abu Ali from clubs in different leagues. According to Qatari newspaper Al Raya, Qatar’s Al-Arabi SC is actively pursuing a deal to sign the striker during the current summer transfer window. The club has reportedly submitted an official offer as part of its broader efforts to bolster its attacking line-up.
Al Raya also reported that Abu Ali has become a major target following his performances in the Club World Cup, held this year in the United States. The newspaper noted strong competition for his signature, with interest not only from Gulf clubs but also from Europe and North America. Among the most prominent suitors is Major League Soccer’s New York Red Bulls, who are said to have tabled an offer worth up to six million US dollars. A German Bundesliga club has also shown interest, though its identity has not yet been disclosed.
Al-Arabi SC recently announced the signing of Spanish international Pablo Sarabia from Wolverhampton Wanderers, signaling its ambition for the upcoming season. Abu Ali is seen as a potential cornerstone in the club’s offensive strategy going forward.
Wissam Abu Ali joined Al Ahly during the 2023 winter transfer window from Swedish side IK Sirius. Since his arrival, he has played a key role in the club’s success, helping them secure two Egyptian Premier League titles, a CAF Champions League trophy, and the Egyptian Super Cup.
As the summer transfer window continues, Abu Ali’s future remains uncertain, but his growing reputation and international interest suggest a major move could be on the horizon.
