Egypt Daily News – Dr. Zahi Hawass, a renown archaeologist and former Minister of Antiquities, gave controversial statements, in which he stated that Hatshepsut was a “fat” queen and Ramesses III was a “drinker”.
Hawass said, that he participated in a project entitled “The Egyptian Project to Study Royal Mummies.” He added that he found the mummy of Hatshepsut and put it under a CT scan, continuing: “Turned out she’s fat, and she died from cancer, I announced this matter from that day.”
He pointed out that the artist Elham Shaheen wanted to embody the character of Hatshepsut, but after learning that she was fat she abandoned the idea, continuing: “Since that day, Elham Shaheen has not spoken to me at all.”
He stated that Ramses III was brave at the beginning of his life, defeated the Sea Peoples, and did great things, but at the end of his life he was “constantly drinking wine” noting that this matter is documented on the walls of the temple of Ramses III.
Hawass continued: “At the end of the day, he was a drinker and his second wife conspired against him, in order to put her son in his place, and he died being betrayed.”
