The Government Media Office in Gaza reported on Saturday that Israel has violated the ceasefire agreement 47 times since it was declared earlier this month, resulting in the deaths of 38 Palestinians and the injury of 143 others, in what Gaza authorities described as a continued breach of the deal mediated by international powers.

In an official statement, the media office said:

“Since the announcement of the end of the war in Gaza, the Israeli occupation has committed a series of violations, amounting to 47 breaches so far.”

The statement went on to stress that the ongoing Israeli actions constitute a serious undermining of the ceasefire agreement, signed between Israel and Hamas on October 13, under the sponsorship of Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the United States.

“As a result of Israel’s continued violations, 38 people have been killed and 143 others wounded, with injuries ranging from mild to critical,” the statement added.
“We hold the occupation fully responsible and call on the United Nations and the guarantor parties to intervene immediately to stop these violations.”

Background of the Ceasefire Agreement

Under the terms of the U.S.-backed ceasefire plan often referred to as the Trump Peace Framework, Hamas was to release all Israeli hostages, including the handover of bodies, while Israel agreed to release approximately 2,000 Palestinian prisoners and return the remains of deceased Palestinian detainees.

Although both sides have made partial progress in implementing these terms, tensions have escalated in recent days, particularly as Israel presses for the full disarmament of Hamas and the return of all Israeli hostages, living and dead.

Two Years of Devastation

The Gaza government’s statement also placed the current ceasefire violations within the broader context of a two-year-long war, which, according to official Palestinian figures, has resulted in more than 68,000 deaths and 170,000 injuries among Palestinians. The conflict has left Gaza in ruins, with catastrophic damage to vital sectors.

The statement detailed widespread destruction across the enclave, including:

  • The collapse of Gaza’s healthcare system
  • The destruction of schools, universities, and places of worship
  • Severe damage to critical infrastructure such as electricity, water, and sanitation
  • The dismantling of 15 key economic and service sectors

Humanitarian organizations continue to warn of an escalating crisis, with large segments of Gaza’s population now displaced, lacking access to medical care, clean water, or stable housing.

International Involvement

The Gaza government’s renewed appeal to the United Nations and ceasefire guarantors comes just days after Egypt hosted a high-level peace summit in Sharm El Sheikh, co-chaired by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump. The summit brought together leaders and envoys from over 20 countries to reaffirm support for the ceasefire and seek a long-term political solution.

However, the reported violations and ongoing violence have cast doubt on the durability of the ceasefire, even as diplomatic channels remain active.
