President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi emphasized that Egypt’s current economic challenges can only be overcome through the collective will of the people, along with sustained effort, planning, and effective implementation by the state. His remarks came during the 42nd Armed Forces Cultural Symposium, held to mark the 52nd anniversary of the October War victory.
Speaking at the event, President Sisi underlined the importance of public understanding and readiness to endure the hardships that accompany economic reform. “The economic challenge will only end through the will of the people, their effort, and the comprehensive planning and execution being carried out by the state,” he stated. “It also depends on the people’s awareness and their willingness to bear the difficulties along this path.”
Reflecting on his personal connection with the public, President Sisi added, “Before I became president, I was one of you from a long time ago, I’ve been one of you. We’ve seen our neighbors, our loved ones, and the struggles around us.” He stressed that his leadership comes with a deep understanding of the everyday realities faced by Egyptians. “I’m not talking about something that happened 40 years ago. I live this reality with you, and I’m not detached from what’s happening in our country,” he said. “There’s no other solution but the one we’re currently pursuing.”
The symposium, hosted at the Al-Manara International Conference Center, brought together military leaders, public officials, and citizens in a commemorative event that highlighted not only the military achievements of October 1973 but also the ongoing national struggles and aspirations. The gathering served as both a tribute to Egypt’s military history and a platform to engage the public in the country’s path forward particularly in the face of economic difficulties that demand unity, sacrifice, and resilience.
President Sisi’s speech resonated with the overarching theme of national responsibility, calling on citizens to remain steadfast and supportive as the country navigates complex economic terrain. His message was clear: overcoming adversity is a shared journey one rooted in solidarity between the government and the people.
