Ahmed Kamel – Egypt Daily News

EgyptAir, the national carrier of Egypt, has announced its official sponsorship of the Grand Egyptian Museum’s opening ceremony, an event hailed as one of the most significant cultural milestones in modern history. The airline’s involvement comes as part of a broader national strategy to promote the world’s largest archaeological museum, a monumental gateway designed to present ancient Egypt to the world through a fusion of cutting-edge technology and timeless heritage.

As preparations for the grand opening progressed, EgyptAir played a key logistical and operational role, providing extensive support to the event’s organizing committees. The airline arranged international flight tickets for orchestra members, artists, and technical teams arriving from across the globe, ensuring their timely participation in the ceremony. In addition, EgyptAir handled the transport of advanced audiovisual and stage equipment, as well as invitations, brochures, and commemorative gifts prepared for the event’s distinguished guests.

This comprehensive effort brought together multiple EgyptAir subsidiaries, including its divisions for passenger services, cargo operations, ground handling, aircraft maintenance, and in-flight services—working in concert to deliver a seamless logistical operation worthy of such a landmark occasion.

As part of its global outreach, EgyptAir has launched one of its most ambitious promotional campaigns to date, dedicated to showcasing the Grand Egyptian Museum to millions of travelers worldwide. Central to this initiative is the introduction of a specially painted aircraft featuring a full-body design inspired by the museum’s logo and visual identity. The aircraft, now flying on international routes, serves as a moving ambassador for Egypt’s cultural heritage and a symbol of pride for the nation.

Inside its fleet, the airline has extended the campaign’s branding by featuring the museum’s logo on headrest covers across all international flights. Passengers are also offered special chocolates embossed with the museum’s emblem, and promotional films highlighting the museum’s exhibits and architecture are screened on in-flight entertainment systems, allowing travelers to experience a glimpse of the museum before even arriving in Egypt.

Beyond the skies, EgyptAir has reinforced its campaign through promotional banners and video screenings in its airport lounges at Cairo International Airport, as well as in its offices both domestically and abroad. This integrated approach ensures that the Grand Egyptian Museum’s story reaches travelers at every step of their journey from takeoff to touchdown, enhancing awareness and anticipation for Egypt’s newest cultural landmark.

Captain Ahmed Adel, Chairman and CEO of the EgyptAir Holding Company, expressed pride in the airline’s role as the official carrier for the Grand Egyptian Museum’s inauguration. “It is a great honor and national responsibility for EgyptAir to contribute to this historic event, which embodies the magnificence of Egypt and its enduring civilization,” he said. Adel emphasized that the company had mobilized all its human and technical resources to support the museum’s opening, reflecting a spirit of unity and institutional cooperation befitting an event of global importance.

He added that the airline’s worldwide promotional efforts aim to strengthen Egypt’s position on the global tourism map and to highlight the Grand Egyptian Museum as a beacon of cultural innovation and a new symbol of Egypt’s soft power. “This project is not just a museum,” Adel said, “it is a message to the world about Egypt’s leadership, creativity, and timeless heritage.”

The Grand Egyptian Museum, located near the Giza Pyramids, is set to become the largest archaeological museum in the world, housing tens of thousands of ancient artifacts including the complete collection of King Tutankhamun for the first time under one roof. EgyptAir’s global campaign ensures that the story of this monumental institution reaches travelers across continents, carrying Egypt’s history and cultural legacy to the skies.
